Ruth T. Bedford '32

Ruth T. Bedford was a 1932 graduate of Foxcroft School. She was a daring and creative woman with a good deal of grit. She was an accomplished horsewoman, sailor, golfer, tennis player, and licensed seaplane pilot.
Ruth served with the American Red Cross in Europe during World War II, and she also worked for Rodgers & Hammerstein as a casting director and stage manager on several Broadway shows. She is fondly remembered for singing show tunes with visitors from Foxcroft. Ruth died in June of 2014, just shy of her 100th birthday, and she bequeathed the largest gift ever made to an all-girls secondary school.
