Head of School Appointed to Two Boards

Head of School Cathy McGehee has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the National Coalition of Girl’s Schools (NCGS) and the Board of Directors of the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS).
For more than a quarter-century, the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools (NCGS) has been a leading advocate for girls’ schools, serving more than 250 PK-12 all-girl schools (independent, public, charter, religiously-affiliated, and boarding/day) around the world by providing networking, research, professional development, and advocacy programs focused on girls’ learning and healthy development.

NCGS has also tapped McGehee, for the second year, to facilitate the Coalition HEADWAYS for Heads of School discussion series. The program develops a “team cohort” of colleagues who together form a small virtual-learning community that shares resources, ideas, and best practices with one another throughout the year. More information about NCGS can be found at www.ncgs.org.

Since 1973, the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS) has served as the Commonwealth’s first resource for independent pre-collegiate education, promoting educational, ethical, and professional excellence in its member schools. VAIS is an approved accrediting body recognized by the Virginia Board of Education through the Virginia Council for Private Education (VCPE) and the International Council Advancing Independent School Accreditation (ICAISA) and is a nonprofit voluntary membership organization.

Foxcroft successfully completed its 10-year accreditation with VAIS in 2016. Learn more about VAIS at www.vais.org.
