Two Students Share Their Musical Talents

Two Students Share Their Musical Talents

Just before Winter Break, the Foxcroft community was treated to the talents of student musicians Lucia H. ’27 and Youki T. ’27 during Morning Meeting.

Lucia shared a beautiful piano performance of “Liuyang River” by composer Jianzhong Wang.

“Lucia started learning piano at age four, took a two-year break, then she picked it up with great love,” shared Music Coordinator Debbie Balcom. “She has studied for about 12 years in total. The piece she played at Morning Meeting was written for a river near her home. She plays the piano to enjoy music and to bring beautiful music to others.”

Youki, a violinist, shared a lovely performance of “Song from a Secret Garden” composed by Rolf Lovland.

Balcom shared this about Youki, who has been studying violin for seven years, “She has founded and led the new Foxcroft Treble Club for two years. Treble Club is our classical instrumental student group that has been sharing music by performing at Foxcroft events and the greater Middleburg Community. In the past month, Youki has performed solos at Morning Meeting, the annual Lessons and Carols service, and a holiday concert for residents of The Windy Hill Foundation Home.”

Both students receive arts credit at Foxcroft for their musical studies, and the performances were part of their classes. Click here to view video of their performances.
