Foxcroft Summer Camps Explore Theater, Art, Science, and Riding

Summer Day Camps

After a hiatus of more than a decade, the Foxcroft Admissions Office resurrected its Summer Day Camp program.

Faculty members Nance Sweet, Carolyn Burke, and Dr. Christine de Denus showcased the new Mars STEAM Building and beautifully renovated Music Building with science, art, and theater-themed experiences. The two camp weeks included daily trips to the swimming pool (complete with popsicles) and concluded with special demonstrations, a gallery show, and a mini-musical performance.

A highlight of the camps was an overnight stay in Reynolds Dorm. The day campers joined the boarding equestrian campers and our CAPs for an evening pool party with water balloons and watermelon, an 80-foot slip-n-slide, a bonfire with s’mores and sparklers, and a night on the sleeping porches. They also enjoyed dinner and breakfast in the Dining Hall to fuel their Foxcroft fun.

Equestrian Boarding Camp

Foxcroft also offered our annual Equestrian Camp. This boarding program is designed for riders with experience at the walk-trot-canter level or above and was created to further a girl's riding skills while allowing her to experience Foxcroft’s uncommonly beautiful campus and local community.

Riders received mounted instruction based on the tenets of hunter seat equitation and attended horsemanship seminars on bandaging, braiding, clipping, vet care, farrier care, and the like. The residential component of the camp included eating meals together, exploring the Foxcroft campus, field trips that included a visit to meet the hounds of the Middleburg Hunt, pool time, and social activities in the dorm.
