Setting the Bar Higher: Eleanor G. ’27 Chases Her Equestrian Goals

Setting the Bar Higher: Eleanor G. ’27 Chases Her Equestrian Goals

Eleanor G. ’27 is another accomplished Foxcroft rider who regularly competes at the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF). She recently shared some of her successes, her thoughts on the value of Foxcroft’s Exceptional Proficiency (EP) program, and her goals.

How long have you been riding?

Since freshman year, I have been an EP student, but I have been riding since I was three or four.

Tell us a bit about your recent accomplishments.

I bought a new horse and moved up to the 1.15 jumpers and started competing in the United States Equestrian Team (USET) Talent Search. I also competed in my first night class at WEF, the $100,000 Hunt Team Exhibition, and came in 11th place with my team, scoring the highest score for my team.

How has Foxcroft's EP Program supported your journey?

It has allowed me to travel to WEF and other shows and stay in touch with my teachers, so my grades stay high.

What has been your proudest moment (or moments) so far?

Going clear over jumps in all of my 1.10 and 1.15 classes during WEF, as well as learning the ropes on a new horse during WEF after a scary fall.

What's next?

I will be moving up to the 1.20 junior jumpers soon and will spend the summer in New York in a shadow working student position at Heritage Farm, the top hunter/jumper barn in the United States. I will also compete in the Dover Medal and Maclay Finals and the Low Junior Jumpers with Heritage Farm this coming season.
