Senior Sara W. Signs on to Play Soccer at Williams College!
We are delighted to recognize and celebrate Sara W. ’25 on her decision to play soccer at Division III Williams College next year as she joins a growing group of Foxcroft graduates playing NCAA sports.
Sara has been incredibly fortunate to have a strong support system throughout her soccer journey. With unwavering encouragement from her parents and invaluable guidance from her coach, she has grown into the athlete and person she is today. Their belief in her has helped shape her success, both on and off the field.
Playing Division III soccer is a momentous achievement that reflects years of dedication, perseverance, and passion for the game. Sara started playing soccer when she was eight years old. Her first team was Madison Recreational Soccer’s Blue Crew and her first club team was Soccer Organization Charlottesville Area (SOCA) Elite. From her early days on the field to becoming a standout leader on the Foxcroft team, Sara has set the standard for excellence in both athletics and academics.
As a key player for Foxcroft, she has been a driving force behind our team’s success, known for her skill, determination, and relentless work ethic. Whether scoring crucial goals, making game-changing plays, or motivating her teammates, she has embodied the spirit of a true competitor. She has proven that success comes not only from talent but from discipline, time management, and a drive to always improve. As a member of the Northern Virginia Alliance ECNL Club team, Sara has excelled.
Her ECNL coach for the last four years, Phil Liversedge, spoke about Sara’s talent and shared his take on why Sara is so successful — she’s “spoiled” (in a good way!). Spoiled in intelligence, athleticism, love from her family, and kindness to all around her — all qualities that make her so coachable and likable.
But she isn’t just an exceptional athlete. Off the field, Sara has excelled in the classroom. She is a standout student who has maintained academic excellence, achieving election to Foxcroft’s Cum Laude Society as a junior, while balancing the demands of training, travel, and competition. She is not only a role model to her teammates but also a respected and valued member of our school and community. Her involvement in and leadership of the Morgan’s Message Club on campus showcases her commitment to making a difference beyond the game.
Sara’s new coach at Williams College, Sara Raymond, says: “We are excited to add Sara to our team here at Williams this fall. Her grittiness and ability to read the game defensively fit in perfectly with what we value in our backline. Throughout the recruitment process, we have been impressed with Sara's tenacity on the field, her versatility, and her positive work ethic, and are looking forward to seeing her contribute to our competitive team culture and play a role in future team successes.”
We couldn’t be prouder to see Sara take this next step in her journey. Today we celebrate her — not just for what she’s achieved, but for the person she is. Her dedication, passion, and leadership have brought her here and we know her best is yet to come! We cannot wait to see her shine at the next level!
Congratulations, Sara, on this incredible accomplishment — we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way as you move on to play for the Purple Cows!
