June Show Report for the Foxcroft Riding Program

June Show Report for the Foxcroft Riding Program

After the school year had officially ended, the June horse showing fun for the Foxcroft Riding Program was just beginning! After attending rated and local shows and hosting shows at Foxcroft throughout the spring, June brought the riders to one of our favorite venues in Upperville for three competitions. The Grafton Farm and Salem Farm venues, situated on either side of Route 50 in Upperville, combine to create a beautiful location for the horses to enjoy hacking out on the grass field when not showing and competing in beautifully appointed and well-maintained arenas.

The Foxcroft trainers utilized the unrated Upperville Jump 4 Fun show days on Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, June 1, as opportunities for riders to build on existing partnerships and acclimate their horses to the venue for the coming weeks of rated shows. Four horses and riders attended this show and made great strides in their learning processes, as well as earned several ribbons in very large classes. The jumper riders brought home four clear round blues as they rode moderately paced and carefully crafted tracks to help familiarize themselves and their horses with the ring space for the upcoming weeks, where time and jump height would become factors. The hunters showcased some lovely rounds that were consistent in rhythm and track and produced some beautiful jump efforts from their horses, which brought home six top-eight finishes. As always, we appreciate the contributions of Foxcroft Assistant Trainer Casey Vidalon, who piloted the horses around in the hunter rings to prepare them for the students to have great trips. Highlights included Savannah S. ’28 riding Cooley Grand Finale to a ribbon in each of her four over fences classes and Julia L. ’26 rising above some professionals in her classes to earn two top-three placings in her hunter rounds. Full results are listed below.

After two days of smiles and fun during the unrated weekend, a handful of Foxcroft riders got their horses settled in and ready to compete in the rated week of the historic Upperville Colt and Horse Show. Starting on Monday, June 2, and going through the following weekend, Foxcroft was well represented by two seasoned riders who competed in the 1.10m Junior Jumper classes. Recent graduate Cierra C. ’25 and her mare, Generosa MK, earned a 3rd place in the 1.10m Junior Jumper speed class as well as a 6th place in the 1.15 Junior Jumper Classic. While Jenny and Cierra are always a fun pair to watch, the team also enjoyed seeing Valeska F. ’26 build on her new relationship with a leased horse, One For The Road, as she earned a 6th place in the 2b class of the 1.10m Junior Jumper division.

After finishing the week out at Upperville, the Foxcroft group enthusiastically welcomed additional riders to join them competing at the Loudoun Benefit Horse Show. The five riders and horses that participated in this show contested classes ranging from the USHJA 2’3” hunters to the 1.10m jumpers. Sammie M. ’27 rose to the occasion in her first show out on her new leased horse, Everlasting, and earned a second-place finish in a Low Children’s Hunter class on her way to clinching the victory in the $500 Low Children’s Hunter Classic. We are very excited to see this pair develop further as they get to know each other more in the coming year. Julia L. ’26 did a wonderful job competing her leased mare, Miss Steak, in the Low Adult Hunter classes. With a few shows and some smooth rounds under her belt, Julia is looking forward to trying some jumper classes with “Ruth” this fall. Jumper ring veterans, Cierra C. ’25 and Valeska F. ’26, both rode well and produced some clean and fast rounds to earn prizes in the 1.10m Junior Jumper classes, while Grace N. ’25 and “Kalu” also had some great rounds in the 1.10m Amateur classes. Cierra added a 5th-place Classic ribbon to the banner at her final show, competing with Foxcroft before she heads off to college in the fall. Valeska made her last show on “Hank” really count as she finished 6th and 2nd in the division classes and then added a red ribbon to her collection in the 1.10m Junior Jumper Classic, which helped her to earn the Reserve Championship for the division!

Please read below to celebrate the complete results from these two weeks of showing at Upperville and then at Loudoun Benefit.
