Patty Boswell Receives the Jane Lockhart Service Award

Patty Boswell Receives the Jane Lockhart Service Award

For the second time in her over 30-year tenure at Foxcroft, Registrar Patty Boswell was awarded the 2026 Jane Lockhart Service Award by Head of School Dr. Lisa Kaenzig on Thursday, May 28, at the School’s annual Awards Assembly.

“[Ms. Boswell] joined the School more than 30 years ago, and her work directly affects the daily lived experience of our students in almost every possible way,” said Dr. Kaenzig in her remarks. “She ensures that our girls feel special, that they know they have a safe landing spot and a ready person to listen and help them keep moving forward.”

Since 1990, Boswell has called Foxcroft her home — and made it such for generations of Foxcroft girls as well. “As I traveled around the country over this past year,” Dr. Kaenzig remarked, “I heard again and again from our alumnae that they would not have had the same experience at Foxcroft if not for the unconditional love and support they received from this very special person.” Having worn many hats over the years, Boswell currently works in Schoolhouse as the Registrar and Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Head of School, in Applegate Dorm as a lead dorm parent, and amidst the spirited cheers of the beloved Fox/Hound tradition as Hound Backer, the faculty advisor of the Hound team.

Nominations for Boswell were numerous and heartfelt. One nominator said she “is the definition of unselfish. She pours 110% into everything she does for the students and faculty alike 100% of the time.” Another remarked, “What doesn't she do? Hound Backer, Dorm Lead, Registrar, AP Coordinator, Walking Coach, and she always has a smile on her face. To top off this cornucopia of contributions, she is living the motto of ‘every girl known and valued.’" A colleague noted that Boswell “models the following to the students with her words and actions: honesty, kindness, integrity, inclusion, dedication to work and commitments,” while another described her as “a truly genuine person.”

Congratulations, Ms. Boswell!

The Jane Lockhart Service Award goes to a distinguished member of Foxcroft's staff or faculty who "exemplifies a personal commitment to and understanding of all of our students.” This commitment is demonstrated among other criteria by this individual’s ability to raise the overall quality of life at Foxcroft, unselfish giving of time and energy to the School, and the ability to empower students with self-confidence and instill in them the desire to learn, not only while at Foxcroft but also for a lifetime, thus exemplifying the passionate belief that “everything we do is curriculum.”

This award is given in the spirit of Jane Lockhart, Foxcroft staff member from 1966-2016, by the many students and their parents whose lives were enriched by Jane’s dedication to young women. Additional past recipients include Lockhart, Penny Alderman, Yvette McCarty, Warren Payne, Fred McMane, Brenda Trussell, Heide Hotchkiss, Erin Abbott, Courtney Ulmer, Danny Borror, Michelle Woodruff, Bethany Stotler, and Julia Jackson.
