Highlights from a Busy and Exciting Opening Days!

The schedule for Opening Days kept students busy, from orientation workshops for New Girls to various meetings for returning students, as everyone prepared for classes to start and the school year to begin. It was not all work, though, as activities and pool time provided plenty of time for fun!

Fox/Hound Choosings — a highlight of the week for many — took place Tuesday evening when students and faculty gathered behind Covert for this beloved tradition. The Fox and Hound officers and mascots did an excellent job working tirelessly to plan and host two Sing Sings in addition to this special event, where new community members find out their Fox/Hound destiny! After Choosings, New Girls quickly found attire matching their team’s colors and cheered their hearts out with the rest of the Foxes and Hounds at New Girl Sing Sing.

The 2026-27 academic year was launched on Wednesday morning with an inspirational Sunrise Service in the courtyard of the Audrey Bruce Currier Library. Using the school year theme of "Rooted in Our Values," student leaders offered reflections expressing their hopes and wishes for the school year as inspiration for students and teachers on their first day of classes. Head of School Dr. Lisa Kaenzig's remarks also shared her wishes for the coming year.

“A successful year is absolutely not about achieving perfection,” declared Dr. Kaenzig. “It is about small, brave, intentional movements every single day. … Your unique voices, your kindness, and your ambitions matter right now, exactly as you are. Look out for each other, and remember … you’ve got this! Let’s have the best year ever!”
