After a Close Battle, Hounds Keep the Cup!
Leipheimer Gym was rocking after a brilliantly timed three-pointer by Cece Y. ’27 brought the Foxes within one point of the Hounds. The drums and cheering were loud and proud on both sides as the clock ticked down the final minute of this nail-biter, where neither team had led by more than four points at any point during the game.
In one of the most evenly matched and exciting Big Games in recent memory, it all came down to the final seconds, as the Hounds were able to keep the ball from the Foxes just long enough to claim victory — and The Cup — for the fifth consecutive year.
Hound Big Team Captain Subira K. ’25 and Hound Captain Patty A. ’25 had led their team to a 23-22 win to claim the coveted Cup. In a game that could have gone either way at any moment, Fox Big Team Captain Ava P. ’26 and Fox Captain Ruby D. ’25 guided their teammates with determination and heart right up to the very end.
On Friday, the Puppy and Cub teams battled relentlessly throughout Little Game ending with a 4-4 tie. Middle Game saw the Foxes take an early lead that the Hounds, though they gave it their all, couldn’t surmount, and the game ended 20-4 Foxes.
Both sides played with passion and grit throughout the games, and the spirit of the Fox/Hound tradition — true friends to the end — came to the fore, with hugs for teammates and rivals alike and a thunderous final round of cheers before students and faculty headed off to Spring Break.
Thank you to all of the students, faculty, alumnae, and parents decked out in their buttons and colors who came out to support their team and enjoy this treasured tradition!
