Foxcroft’s 14th Annual STEAM Challenge "ChatFXC" Coming on February 22!

Foxcroft’s 14th Annual STEAM Challenge "ChatFXC" Coming on February 22!

Foxcroft will host up to 40 teams of girls on Saturday, February 22, as they compete in the “ChatFXC” STEAM Challenge.

Designed for middle and high school students, the competition will see girls from Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC, using their knowledge of science, technology, engineering, art, and math to participate in challenges around helping to defeat an artificial intelligence program gone rogue.

Working in teams of four, the girls will rotate through challenges in science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Winners will be chosen for each challenge, as well as an overall winning team. In addition, students can answer trivia questions to earn raffle tickets and compete for STEAM-themed prizes. Team members from event sponsor Coakley Williams, who is building Foxcroft’s Mars STEAM Wing, and architecture firm Hord Coplan Macht, who designed the project, both of which are leading Foxcroft’s Project STEAM Build Seminar, will host one challenge, and Foxcroft’s outstanding STEAM faculty have created the others. The School is also grateful to cyber security firm REDLattice for their sponsorship of this year’s STEAM Challenge events.

The high school competition begins at 8:30am in Foxcroft’s Athletic/Student Center with visiting teams from several schools. The middle school division will compete in the afternoon beginning at 1pm.
