Foxcroft Riding Program Hosts First In-House Horse Show of Season

Foxcroft Riding Program Hosts First In-House Horse Show of Season

Riders and spectators enjoyed a beautiful autumn day for the first In-House Horse Show of the new school year on Saturday, October 11. Eleven students participated in four divisions, which included hunters and jumpers at varying jump heights ranging from ground poles to 2’6”-2’9”.

Katie Petronelli, a local professional, was the judge for the day, and she awarded ribbons first through sixth in each of the classes. Points accumulated were then tallied to award Champion and Reserve Champion honors in each division. At the conclusion of each division, riders were invited to take photos in our Winner’s Circle to celebrate their successes and give appreciation to their horses. Special Shoutout goes to our photographer for the day, Anneliese C. ’26!

The competition began at 10am with the Galileo IV 2’3” Jumper division, and concluded with the Jack of Hearts Poles division (all of the divisions are fondly named after past school horses who were particularly special to the program). Our roster of competitors included some new students with new partnerships, as well as several returning students moving into new, more challenging divisions. Gaining valuable show miles and practicing riding with a plan was the primary goal for all participating riders, and each student finished the day with a smile and a new set of goals for the next horse show. As always, running the horse show takes a village, and we appreciate all the extra sets of hands from our student volunteers who helped pass out ribbons, change the courses, and hold horses between rounds.

It was a fun day of learning, and the Foxcroft instructors were proud of all the students’ efforts, both in and out of the saddle. Thoughtful riding, great sportsmanship, and of course, awesome horsemanship, make this In-House Horse Show Series a blast for all involved!

Full results for each division are listed below. Our next show of the series will take place on Saturday, November 1, and will include our annual Halloween Costume Contest.
