Eunice W. ’25 and Mr. Hyatt are our April Everyday Heroes!

Eunice W. ’25 and Mr. Hyatt are our April Everyday Heroes!

We are excited to share that Eunice W. ’25 and Senior Associate Director of Admissions and Financial Assistance Rhea Hyatt received Foxcroft's Everyday Hero Awards for April!

The Everyday Hero Award Committee received 19 nominations for this month’s Everyday Hero Awards, which shows that so many community members are doing great things. All who take the time to nominate people are also great examples of our values. Committee members (Cathy McGehee, Tanya Hyatt, Jodi Campbell, Ranata Davis, Annette Meinheit, Christine McCrehin, Erika Page, Lynnette Saunders, Tashae’ A. ’25, Student Head of School; and class presidents Kyla P. ’26, Michaela W. ’27, and Cate H. ’28) reviewed the nominations and the announcement of winners at Morning Meeting was met with much cheering and applause!

Before revealing Eunice as the student winner, Junior Class President Kyla P. shared quotes from the nominations.

Eunice is an incredible friend and a truly remarkable person to have in any community. One member of the community described her as “having an aura about her.” Another student wrote, “With her infectious cheerfulness and unwavering positivity, she brightens the lives of everyone around her. She has an extraordinary ability to listen, and always does her best to lend a hand when someone is in need.” Another said, “She is often first to raise her hand to volunteer in Student Council.”

She is a passionate advocate for a better world, constantly working toward positive change and inspiring others to do the same. Her kindness, compassion, and determination make her not only a wonderful friend but also a powerful force for good, which was fully evident in the Reunion Courageous Conversations session when she talked about leaving a legacy. Because she makes people feel seen, valued, and supported, she is nothing short of an everyday hero.

Mrs. McGehee also shared reflections from nominations before announcing Rhea Hyatt as the employee winner.

Mr. Hyatt is a true boarding school person. One nominator wrote, “Mr. Hyatt genuinely understands that when you are at a boarding school, it is not a 9-5 job. He is all about the kids — he is not looking at it through the lens of his professional responsibilities in the admissions office. He truly cares how our students are doing, what they are up to, and he wants to engage with them. Just a few days ago, I was walking from Court and he was in the Library Courtyard calling out to kids as they were passing. He called every one of them by their name and had something funny or complimentary to say to them. It was clear that they mattered to him. He coaches and creates things that bring the community together, such as the recent College Basketball brackets, the Masters Challenge, or going to the Dining Hall at 9pm to make pancakes for the entire student body. I wish we had a dozen more of him. We are so lucky to have him here, and he truly is an Everyday Hero.”

One of his advisees wrote, “He’s everywhere! Whether it’s in Court, on the court, or the lacrosse field, he is incredibly involved with students. He is always willing to step up when needed, and he always puts others first. He always has a smile on his face and is the first one to ask how your day is going! We are so grateful for him.”

Congratulations, Eunice and Mr. Hyatt!
