Eugenia G. ’27 is Student of the Month for April!

Junior Eugenia G. was announced as Student of the Month during Morning Meeting last Friday.

Faculty members submitted nominations for students who have demonstrated excellence in their academic life at Foxcroft. The Student of the Month is not solely concerned with classroom performance — the award also recognizes students who contribute positively to the classroom environment, demonstrate strong intellectual curiosity, and take advantage of the full scope of Foxcroft's academic program.

Before presenting Eugenia with her award, Digital Media Specialist and Video Production teacher Ginny Riley shared comments from the teachers who nominated her, including her own: “Eugenia has been working hard, plugging away at the cells for her storyboard. I have also really enjoyed her collaborative mindset throughout the project! She has been open to feedback and making adjustments to her drawings to help show the major beats in her short film in the best way possible.”

Her AP Environmental Science teacher shared, ”Eugenia is a motivated and enthusiastic student in AP Environmental Science, and she is rocking our summative assessments! She also was fantastic in the play!”

From her Theater teacher: “Eugenia worked very hard on both her music and her character in Into the Woods. I am grateful for her dedication and extremely proud of her performance. Bravo!”

Her Latin teacher wrote, “In Latin class, Eugenia continues to excel. As our texts increase in complexity, she readily steps up to the challenge, offering translations, questions, and insight on the historical context of our readings during every class. She recently showed mastery of the sequence of tenses in indirect statements and approaches each new grammar concept with curiosity and confidence daily.”

“Eugenia always brings a fresh perspective to our class discussions,” offered her Math teacher. “Her current event summaries always have a dramatic flair that makes them memorable. She works incredibly well with her group and produces stellar final products.”

And her English teacher shared, “Eugenia is our designated reader, always volunteering to share Knuffle Bunny with the class before timed writing — effortlessly moving from playful nonsense ('AGGLE FLABBLE BLAGGLE') to Shakespearean-style pop sonnets ('I thee entreat to hither come and dance to this sick beat'). She’s also writing research on how nations oppose dictatorships without military intervention. It's incredibly thoughtful and would certainly earn high marks in a college course. Her humor brings our class together, and it wouldn’t be surprising if she eventually did the same for the world.”

Congratulations, Eugenia!!
