Dara O. ’29 and Dr. Lindsay Anderson are our April/May Everyday Heroes!

Dara O. ’29 and Dr. Lindsay Anderson are our April/May Everyday Heroes!

We are excited to share that Dara O. ’29 and Director of STEAM Education and Chemistry teacher Dr. Lindsay Anderson are the most recent winners of Foxcroft's Everyday Hero Award!

Last month, 31 nominations were received for the Everyday Hero awards, which shows that so many community members are doing great things. All who take the time to nominate people are also great examples of our values.

The Everyday Hero Award Committee (Dr. Kaenzig, Dr. Hyatt, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. McCrehin, Ms. Saunders, Kyla P. ’26, Student Head of School; and the class presidents: Lauren G. ’26, Michaela W. ’27, Cate H. ’28, and Tenzin T. ’29) reviewed the nominations, and the announcement of winners at Morning Meeting was met with much cheering and applause!

Before revealing Dara as the student winner, Student Head of School Kyla P. ’26 shared quotes from nominations submitted by teachers and students:

One student shared: “She always greets me with a smile, and you can feel her positive energy bouncing off her. She is so nice, funny, and smart.”

A faculty member offered: “This student is a bright light that never dims. The other day, she came out to lacrosse practice, and while she is not on the team, she was the first to raise her hand to give a shoutout. Her kindness and positivity radiate!”

One of her teachers wrote: “This student acted as expert help to assist her classmates during a class activity. Despite having her own work to do, she was more than willing to jump around the room and help each group when they got stuck. Her willingness to assist her classmates that day, and every day throughout the year, makes her a true Everyday Hero.”

Following the student announcement, Head of School Dr. Lisa Kaenzig also shared reflections from nominations before announcing Dr. Anderson as the employee winner, including her own: “I have been so impressed with this teacher while I have worked with her over this past year. She has brought so much important and literal girl energy to our campus, especially through her leadership of our STEAM Challenge this past year. Her love for science, our students, and for lifelong learning is clear.”

One student shared that this teacher “always remembers little details, like our horses' names. She also seems to genuinely care about our interests and lives outside of school.”

Another student wrote, "I've attended countless tutorials, and each time it feels personal and like she really wants to help me. This makes me want to try even harder.”

Congratulations, Dara and Dr. Anderson!
