Convocation Opens the 2025-26 School Year
Foxcroft’s 2025-26 school year opened Sunday afternoon when students and their families gathered for Convocation in Engelhard Gymnasium or joined via livestream. The program included remarks from student leaders and school administrators, as well as musical performances.
Student Vice Head of School Ariana A. ’26 opened the Convocation program by leading everyone in the School prayer. She and other members of the Executive Council — Student Head of School Kyla P. ’26, Head of Honor Council Priscilla C. ’26, and Head Prefect Maddie K. ’26 — shared words of wisdom to inspire new and returning students alike. Ariana spoke of her time at Foxcroft, from her first days to her dreams for this new school year, and reflected on how every member of the community supports one another. Priscilla shared how her passion for dance has helped her adapt, learn, and grow in many ways, both in and beyond the studio. Kyla shared wise words from her summer travels to Ghana that speak to the importance of connections and community right here on campus. Maddie encouraged students to try new things, lean into opportunities that present themselves, and embrace the journey of learning and growing here. By sharing their experiences and dreams for the year, these student leaders helped students, parents, faculty, and staff imagine the possibilities ahead.
Continuing the theme of envisioning the year ahead at Foxcroft, Head of School Dr. Lisa Kaenzig shared several experiences of alumnae who currently serve on the Board of Trustees in her remarks, “Dreaming Together.” “These women — now Foxcroft alumnae — were once girls just like you… I asked them to share their stories of the dreams they had for themselves at the same time in their life as each of you today.” The insights from these women mirrored those of our student leaders, underscoring the shared experience among Foxcroft students of today and years past. Special music was performed by our talented students. Youki T. ’27 shared her skill on the violin with a performance of Antonio Vivaldi’s “Concerto in G Minor, 3rd Movement,” and Poppy M. ’27 sang “Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World” by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole.
Following Convocation, parents said goodbye to their daughters, and the New Girls joined their Old Girls for dinner in the Dining Hall.
