Ariana A. ’26 and Patti Mora ’95 are our February/March Everyday Heroes!

We are excited to share that Ariana A. ’26 and English teacher Patti Mora ’95 are the February/March winners of Foxcroft's Everyday Hero Award. The announcement, made during Tuesday's Morning Meeting, was met with much cheering and applause!

The inspiration for this award is “To Catch People Doing Great Things” and tell their stories. Recipients are nominated by the Foxcroft community and reviewed by a committee of students and adults who select one adult and one student to receive the award each month.

The Everyday Hero Award Committee (Dr. Kaenzig, Dr. Hyatt, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. McCrehin, Mrs. Saunders, Kyla P. ’26, Lauren G. ’26, Michaela W. ’27, Cate H. ’28, and Tenzin T. ’29) received 36 nominations for the awards, which shows that so many community members are doing great things. Thank you to all who took the time to nominate someone; you are also great examples of our values!

Before revealing Ariana as the student winner, Student Head of School Kyla P. ’26 and Junior Class President Michaela W. ’27 shared quotes from nominations submitted by her fellow students:

“This student is so kind and works hard. She always takes leadership and is so nice to everyone.”

“This student has been a big support system for not only me, but the entire community. Ever since my first day at Foxcroft, she has made me feel welcomed and like I belong. She is the type of person who would never judge you and is always cheering you on, no matter who you are. She truly represents Foxcroft in such a powerful, inspirational way and is an amazing leader for our School.”

“During my freshman year, I was sitting in on a leadership panel, and this student was talking about why she was a leader. She said she looked up to a girl her freshman year and also had a passion for sharing her love of the School. I remember leaving the library that day, hoping that I would be a leader just like her one day. She is also one of the most considerate people I've ever met. During Family Weekend, my mom came to Morning Meeting and afterwards walked up to me and said, ‘That girl is one of the most well-spoken girls I've ever heard; she brought so much energy and joy to Morning Meeting. She is going places.’ I told her I completely agree and honestly aspire to be like her.”

Following the student announcement, Head of School Dr. Lisa Kaenzig also shared reflections from several nominations before announcing Patti Mora ’95 as the employee winner:

"One student shared that 'this teacher is always there for me when I need to talk to her. I always feel welcome in her classroom, even when I don't have class. I know she is there for me.'"

"A colleague wrote, 'This teacher is a spectacularly positive force at Foxcroft whose energy to create connections and educate students and faculty alike is a natural part of her everyday achievements. She is not seeking to be a gem of the school; she is simply being herself, making her a priceless asset for Foxcroft.'"

"This teacher also served as an invaluable member of the Assistant Head search committee, and they answered the call to be a freshman dorm lead next year."

Congratulations, Ariana and Mrs. Mora ’95!
