8 Students Earn Prestigious Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

Eight Foxcroft students created ten outstanding works of art and writing that were selected for special recognition in the 2026 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards regional competition.

Their works were recognized at the regional level for outstanding merit in originality, skill, and the emergence of a personal voice and vision.

One work achieved the coveted Gold Key status — the highest regional designation. That “golden” artist is  Charlotte N. ’26, for her photo titled “Isla with Davinci.” Her Gold Key work will now be judged by a panel of noted visual and literary leaders in New York City. The National Medalists they select will be invited to a ceremony at Carnegie Hall, and their works will be included in a nationwide traveling exhibition.

Four artists and one writer have received a prestigious Silver Key award for their works. Those awardees include Riley G. ’27 for her poem "Parallelism," Cate H. ’28 for her ceramics piece "Carrying Tea," Monodia J-B. ’28 for her photograph "HalfExpression," and Bronte B. ’26 received two Silver Keys for her paintings "Sneži!" and "Reflections on Bratislava.”

Three students received honorable mentions for their works, including Youki T. ’27 for her critical essay "Corporate Governance of the Mind: Identity, Labor, and Consciousness in Severance," Cady P. ’28 for her photograph "Buffy," and Charlotte T. ’28, who received two honorable mentions for her photographs "Red Ribbon" and "Ingrid and Elizabeth."

The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, established in 1923, are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers in partnership with more than 100 visual arts and literary arts organizations across the country. It is the nation’s largest, longest-running, and most prestigious visual and literary arts program, recognizing students' accomplishments in middle and high school.

Among the artistic luminaries who have served as judges are Langston Hughes, Robert Frost, Edwidge Danticat, David Sedaris, Nikki Giovanni, and Roz Chast. The list of past winners is equally impressive, with Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Sylvia Plath, Ken Burns — and Foxcroft Fine Arts teacher Karin Thorndike — among the honored.

Below is a complete list of Foxcroft’s honored entries.
