Alumnae Association Past President Tarin Heilman Horan ’93
Installation Remarks
September 19, 2025
Hello, I’m Tarin Horan from the class of 1993 and I served as Foxcroft's previous President of the Alumnae Association. It is my pleasure to be standing in for the current President, Courtney Maier Burbela, Class of 1985, who was unable to join us in person today.
The Alumnae Association represents an extraordinary community of over 3,000 women, who share foundational values and experiences cultivated during their time here at Foxcroft. As you heard from Phebe, these meaningful experiences and lessons bond us to each other and the School. We are invested in preserving the traditions Miss Charlotte started decades ago while we eagerly await what lies ahead for the School’s next hundred years. For generations past and many more to come, girls graduate from Foxcroft having gained the skills, knowledge, and friendships to help them navigate their own path and leave a lasting mark in the world.
Though times have changed from the School’s early days, much remains the same at Foxcroft. In a 1954 letter to the Foxcroft Board of Trustees, Miss Charlotte wrote, “Foxcroft has set a distinctive standard in girls' education. No other school is quite like it. It has given girls not only intellectual training but aims and ideals — the kind that only an independent school with a simple and sound program can achieve. Foxcroft standards ... have given the girls a sense of honor and of the joy of living ..." These words still ring true today due to the caring leadership of past Heads of School, the dedication and commitment of the faculty and staff, the spirit, engagement, and joy of all the students that walk the halls of Schoolhouse; and the love and pride that alumnae feel for their School.
Today, we celebrate a new chapter for Foxcroft as we officially install Dr. Kaenzig as Head of this amazing School. We welcome her into this community and invite her to learn firsthand what makes this place so special. We are excited for her to share her unique gifts and dreams with us to keep the School strong and lead the community into this next phase of Foxcroft’s future.
And because Miss Charlotte always said it best, I will leave you with another quote: “You cannot go back — you must go forward — you must help the future — and you must take the fine, the splendid things of the past for your standards”. Dr. Kaenzig, we believe you will do just that.
