Adela Griswold ’06 To Serve As Career Day 2026 Keynote Speaker

We are pleased to announce that Adela Griswold ‘06 will begin Career Day 2026 by delivering a keynote address to students, faculty, and alumnae at Morning Meeting on Friday, April 17, during Reunion Weekend (April 16-18).

Adela is a Certified Nurse-Midwife working in public health and currently serves as a clinician at the Alexandria Health Department, where she specializes in reproductive health and infectious diseases through both direct patient care and population-level health promotion. She also provides sexual and reproductive healthcare to uninsured and underinsured individuals through the Virginia Department of Health, advancing equitable access to essential services.

An experienced educator and mentor, Adela has taught and guided medical residents and student nurse practitioners in clinical settings and is a skilled colposcopist. She has served on the Virginia Department of Health Medical Advisory Committee as well as the Virginia Congenital Syphilis and Perinatal HIV Review Board, and she contributed to the development of statewide directives defining the role of public health nurses in mass care and sheltering settings.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Adela held a dual role on the Investigation and Surveillance Team while also administering COVID-19 vaccines to the public. Throughout this period, she maintained in-person family planning and STI clinic services and launched a telemedicine practice to expand access to care.

Adela is deeply passionate about reproductive justice, the care of underserved populations, and health equity in its broadest sense. A dedicated Foxcroft alumna, she has served the School as a member of the Alumnae Council (2011–2016), the Campaign Advisory Committee, and as a Class Representative. She has participated in Career Day (2021), served as a speaker and panelist (2007, 2010), and attended multiple reunions (2011, 2016, 2021, 2022) as well as the Centennial celebration in 2014.

Beyond Foxcroft, Adela has worked as a midwife with Planned Parenthood of Maryland, served as an Alumni Council Member at The Hill School, and was a Board Member at The Heurich House Museum in Washington, DC.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University (2010), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Georgetown University’s Accelerated Nursing Program (2012), and a Master of Science in Nurse-Midwifery from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing (2015).

Adela lives in Arlington, VA, with her husband, Zak, and their dog.
