Three Tennis Players Earn All-State Honors!

Foxcroft's terrific fall athletic campaign brought more accolades Monday when Tennis Coach Susan Erba announced that three members of the Varsity Team that went 13-1 had received Virginia Independent School’s Athletic Association Division II All-State honors.

Sophomore Annie M., who was the Delaney Athletic Conference Player of the Year, repeated as a First Team selection and was joined by sophomore Marina S. Senior Kelly B., a First Teamer in 2012, was named to the Second Team.

They join cross-country standout Amy E. '14 and field hockey stars Lilly M. '14, Alicia H. '14, Alex G. '16, and Pipsy S. '16.

Annie and Marina shared the top two singles spots and comprised the no. 2 doubles team all year as Varsity Tennis won Foxcroft's first DAC Championship and reached the semifinals of the VISAA Division II State Tournament. Annie went 12-1 in singles and 7-2 in doubles, while Marina posted a 10-4 record at singles to go with the 7-2 mark. She also received First Team All-DAC honors.

Kelly, an honorable mention All-DAC selection, had a perfect 14-0 record in singles competition and was undefeated in doubles until the final match of the season, a tough 10-8 loss to Norfolk Collegiate in the state semifinal. It was the first doubles match she and co-captain Amalia S. '14 had lost in two years at the number 1 doubles position.

Kelly and Annie were the only Foxcroft players to win in the 7-2 state semifinal loss to Norfolk Collegiate.
