Three Foxcroft Athletes Receive All-State Status

Two field hockey players and one tennis player have received Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division I All-State honors. Athletic Director Michelle Woodruff announced Friday that seniors Allison B. and Lindsay W. were named to the Second Team in field hockey and senior Isabel S. received Second Team mention in tennis.
Allison and Lindsay were named to the Division II All-State First Team in 2014 and 2015.

Allison, who missed four games during the season with an ankle sprain, scored nine goals and added five assists in 13 games to help Foxcroft (12-3-2) to the championship of the Delaney Athletic Conference (DAC) and a berth in the state tournament. She scored the only goal of the game in Foxcroft’s 1-0 victory over Fredericksburg Academy in the DAC championship game.

Lindsay was a stalwart on defense and on offense added six goals and five assists to her record. She scored one of Foxcroft’s two goals in a hard-fought 5-2 loss to Trinity Episcopal in the first round of the state tournament.

On the tennis court, Isabel was Foxcroft’s No. 1 singles player and teamed with sophomore Holland D. to form the No. 1 doubles team. As the No. 1 singles player, Isabel constantly drew the opponent’s No. 1 player and battled hard against each of them.

She posted a 4-7 record in singles and was 7-4 in doubles while demonstrating strong leadership of the team. She was named the team’s Most Valuable Player.
