Support the Junior Class Walkathon for Room to Read

Because when you educate a girl, everything changes!

Each year Foxcroft School's Junior Class organizes a Walkathon by researching non-profits and choosing one as a beneficiary, educating students and faculty about their cause, eliciting sponsorships from local businesses, families and friends, and conducting the walk with help from faculty sponsors. This year the Walkathon will depart from campus on Friday, April 5th, at 3:00pm. We invite all parents and families who live locally to join us -- and bring your friends!
From amongst an array of non-profits considered, the Junior Class has chosen Room to Read as their cause. Room to Read partners with local communities throughout the developing world to provide quality educational opportunities by establishing libraries, creating local language children's literature, constructing schools, and providing education to girls. They intervene early in the lives of girls in the belief that education empowers people to improve socioeconomic conditions for their families, communities, countries and future generations. In short, global change through education.

In particular, the class wishes to fund the construction of a much-needed student library -- a literal Room to Read -- in a village which now has none.

We hope you will join Foxcroft's Junior Class in its effort to make a direct and tangible difference in the lives of young girls and their families. First, please walk with us on April 5th. Second, make a gift of any size. If the girls achieve their goal of raising $5,000, the library will be built! Additional funds would help fill it with local language books.
