Six Foxcroft Athletes Receive All-State Honors in Lacrosse, Softball

Recent graduates Pipsy S., Lucy M. and Serena H. and rising sophomores Loren S. and Jenna T. were named to the VISAA Division II All-State lacrosse team, Athletic Director Michelle Woodruff announced Thursday. Pipsy, Lucy, Serena and Loren were selected to the First Team while Jenna was named to the Second Team.

Earlier this spring, Morgan H. '18 was named to the VISAA Division I All-State Second Team in softball. (Based on its enrollment, Foxcroft competes in Division I in several sports.)
It is the third year in a row that Pipsy received First Team honors and the second consecutive year for Serena. Pipsy also was a two-time First Team selection in field hockey. A midfielder and co-captain, Pipsy was the mainstay of the Foxcroft team that reached the finals of the state tournament this spring. During the season, she led the team in scoring with 37 goals and 15 assists.

Lucy, who had several clutch goals during the regular season, had three goals in the three games of the state tournament. She finished the season with 19 goals and eight assists.

Serena anchored Foxcroft’s defense and made some timely plays in the three games of the tournament. With her 5-foot-10 frame, she proved difficult for opponents to shoot over and get around.

An impactful player in her first year of high school action, Loren had four goals and an assist in the tournament. She also proved to be Coach Patrick Finn’s choice to take most of the draws, a key task. She scored 24 goals and had 14 assists during the season.

Jenna had a hat trick in the state semifinal game to help Foxcroft defeat Virginia Episcopal School. She excelled in her first year on the team with 31 goals and a team-leading 20 assists.

On the softball diamond, Morgan had a superb first year, batting .688 with an on-base percentage of .737 and an OPS (on-base plus slugging) of 1.312. She drove in 32 runs and hit four home runs in only nine games. Morgan is Foxcroft's first All-State softball honoree in many years, perhaps ever.
