Riders win Tri-State Championship

An outstanding performance in the Tri-State Equestrian League (TSEL) Finale Sunday (April 9) in Middleburg catapulted the Foxcroft Riding Team to its second TSEL Championship in three years.

Foxcroft, which was fifth among the seven teams in the standings entering the show, collected 11 ribbons to earn a total of 36.7 points.

The Madeira School earned 35 points while Garrison Forest School, the league leader after the regular-season meets, scored 25, followed by Oldfields Schools (11.5), Columbia (8), Linden Hall (6.5) and Grier (2).

Foxcroft earned 10 points for winning the Finale, boosting its Total Quality Points for the2005-2006 season to 21, one ahead of Reserve Champion Garrison Forest. Madeira finished third with 18 TQPs.

Led by Tiffany '07, who won both Beginner events as well as the season-long title in that division, seven Foxcroft riders earned ribbons Sunday.

Co-captain Alex '06 had one first place, in the Advanced Division. Caitlin '06, Jordan '07 and Hannah S. '07 each won two ribbons while Emily E. '07 and Hadley C. '08 each earned one ribbon.
