Riders Competing at Upperville and Loudoun Shows!

Five current Foxcroft riders and one incoming freshman trained by Director of Riding Kate Worsham are competing this month "under The Oaks" at one of the oldest horse show venues in the United States -- just a few miles down the road from Middleburg.

Beginning Thursday (June 4), Meghann H. '16, Bella VP '18, and Meghann's sister Mackenzie, who will be a Foxcroft freshman in the fall, are riding at the 162nd Upperville Colt and Horse Show. They will be joined by Charlotte S. '16, Brittany H. '17, and Saylor H. '18 next week at the Loudoun Benefit Horse Show, held at the Upperville venue on Route 50.

In addition to the girls who work with Ms. Kate, several other Foxcroft students and alumnae will also be competing at Upperville. Current students include Carolina W. '16, Lucy M. '16, and Isabel S. '17, while alumnae include Foxcroft Sport Hall-of-Famer Alison Firestone '95, Rosie Powers '14, and Sloane Coles '07.

All are invited to come out and watch -- or to tune in via livestream. Read on for more information about the shows and when our girls plan to ride. Look for updated schedules and information on the Upperville and Loudoun Benefit websites.

And wish all our girls good luck!
The oldest horse show in the country, Upperville has been held at Grafton Farm since 1853, and a number of the oak trees shading the arenas there are as old as the show! Upperville draws about 2,000 horse-and-rider combinations, ranging from toddlers on ponies to Grand Prix and World Cup riders and horses. It's an exciting event to attend, and even more exciting to compete in!

Bella and Meghen will compete in the High Children's Jumper Division which takes place over three days starting today, Thursday (June 4). They will also show on Sunday in the High Children's Jumper Classic. All their classes will be held on the Jumper (north) side of Rt. 50 in Salem Farm Ring II.

Mackenzie rides in both the Local Medium and Large Pony Hunter Divisions which take place today as well in Hunter Ring II on the Hunter (south) side of Rt. 50.

The following week, the action continues on the Upperville Horse Show grounds with the Loudoun Benefit Show. Look for Charlotte and Brittany in the Low Hunters Wednesday morning (June 10) in the Little Ring and, together with Saylor, in the Pre-Children's Hunter competition Thursday morning in the Upperville Ring.

Bella and Meghann again take on the High Children's Jumper competition, riding Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, June 12-14, in the New Ring. Mackenzie and her ponies compete Saturday and Sunday in the Pony Hunter divisions.
