RIDING TEAM IS TSEL CHAMPION AGAIN!

Foxcroft riders collected 13 ribbons and claimed two individual season titles at the Tri-State Equestrian League (TSEL) Finale Saturday to propel the Foxcroft Riding Team to the 2008-09 TSEL Championship.

It was Foxcroft’s third league championship in five years. The team, which is coached by Foxcroft Riding Director Nelly Sheehan and Assistant Laurie Feickert, was reserve champion in 2008 and did not place in 2007 when the Finale was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Foxcroft, which entered this year’s Finale trailing Garrison Forest School in the season standings, earned 37 points to win the show and finish the season with 23 Total Quality Points (TQP). Columbia Horse Center collected 33 points Saturday, followed by Madeira with 29 and Garrison with 25. On the year, Columbia finished with 20 TQPs to claim the Reserve Champion honors, followed by Garrison with 17 and Madeira, with 15 TQPs.

Senior Kate A. took second in the Advanced flat class to clinch the season title among the league’s best riders. Freshman McKenzie C. nabbed 3rd in the flat and 6th over fences in the Intermediate class to capture that season crown.

Foxcroft swept the Novice competition with senior Louisa F. winning the flat and sophomore Carlee K. winning over fences. Louisa finished second among Novice riders for the season and Carlee was fifth, a point behind teammate Margarite '09, who collected a 2nd and a 5th Saturday.

Freshman Allie D. also grabbed two ribbons, placing 6th in the walk-trot and 4th in the walk-trot-canter. Complete results follow.
