Odyssey of the Mind Headed to States!

Six students have been working hard since November to solve their long-term, humorous problem for Odyssey of the Mind. They chose to tackle "It's How You Look at It," a problem about perspectives. Their solution needed to include two different characters exhibiting odd behavior, showing juxtaposing scenes where their behavior was considered normal or obviously odd. A meter was also necessary to document the oddity and some other creative elements. The solution is presented in the form of an eight-minute presentation.

At the regional tournament on Saturday, sophomores Lilly, Arianna, Maddy, Emily, and Gaby and freshman Jasmine presented a creative solution that earned accolades from the judges. The best character was the narrator, played by Arianna, who spoke in prose and spun an exciting tale about two heros, James Bond and a medieval prince. The students also competed in a spontaneous problem. Both scores combined to give the Foxcroft team a first-place finish, which qualifies them to compete at the Virginia State Tournament on April 13! The team will continue to work hard to improve their sets and story line. Good luck at States!
