Nine Foxcroft athletes honored by Conference

All-Delaney Conference top teams feature six Foxcroft girls;
three more earn second team, honorable mention
MIDDLEBURG, VA— Nine Foxcroft School athletes, including five members of the state-ranked field hockey team, earned All-Delaney Athletic Conference honors this fall, Athletic Director Michelle Woodruff announced Tuesday.
Delaney Athletic Conference (DAC) field hockey coaches named senior co-captains Maeve, a left back from Middleburg, VA, and Charlotte M. (center forward, Bluemont, VA), and junior Caroline F. (center midfielder, Middleburg, VA) the league’s First Team after they led Foxcroft to a trip to the VISAA State Tournament and a final #7 ranking among Division II schools. Sophomores Lilly M. (Bluemont, VA), and Alicia H. (Delaplane, VA) earned honorable mention in field hockey. The team, under the direction of Woodruff and assistant coaches Jessi Coil and Kathy Gonzalez, finished with a 9-6 record and narrowly missed taking the DAC title when it lost, 1-0, to Fredericksburg Academy, the top-ranked team in the state.

Volleyball’s captains were also recognized by the DAC coaches. Setter Alex C.of Wellington, FL, was named to the First Team for the second consecutive year. Middle hitter Charlotte W. (Alexandria, VA) was also named to the First Team while libero Caroline H.(Vienna, VA) earned honorable mention for the secont year in a row. The Volleyball Team, coached by Elizabeth McComas and Fred McMane, had its best season in years with a 6-7 record and its first DAC Tournament victory ever.

In tennis, sophomore standout Amalia S. of Newtown Square, PA, was named to the DAC First Team.
