Ms. Dragan wins ISE Language Matters Award

Foxcroft Foreign Language teacher Kathleen Dragan will receive the 2008 ISE Language Matters presented by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese during the AATSP annual conference, scheduled for July in San Jose, Costa Rica.

The Language Matters Award, sponsored by Intercultural Student Experiences, is awarded to:
  • "a high school world language teacher who has achieved outstanding success in getting her students to speak the target language through exemplary motivation and creative methods" and

  • "who has provided authentic immersion experiences outside the classroom for students to apply their speaking skills."
"The competition for the award was keen, but the AATSP Awards Selection Committee found your credentials to be outstanding," AATSP Executive Director Emily Spinelli wrote in her letter to Mrs. Dragan, who annually takes students to restaurants, shops and events where they must practice their Spanish.

Mrs. Dragan recently completed her third year of teaching at Foxcroft and, along with Foreign Language Department Chair Janice Brown, accompanied about 20 Foxcroft students on a two-week exchange program to L'Ecole Danielou in France.
