Mr. Northrup's Excellent Adventure

Delayed one day by a typhoon, Foxcroft School's Academic Dean, Alexander O. Northrup, arrived home August 8 following his Excellent Adventure in the Far East. Mr. Northrup was part of a select group of independent school educators that comprised the National Association of Independent Schools' "Delegation for Diversity" that visited Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taipei during a 13-day tour.

You can read all Mr. Northrup's reports from his trip online but here are a few highlights:
  • Visits with Foxcroft parents, alumnae, current students and even New Girls!
  • Trips to the tallest building in the world and the night-time market in Taipei (Check out his video!)
  • Interesting meetings with Chinese educators and teachers at schools in three cities
  • Views of a laser show, the largest floating restaurant on earth and a typhoon(!) in the Hong Kong harbor
  • A chance to eat jellies duck's feet and other rare delicacies!
We can't wait to learn more about Mr. Northrup's trip and the various ways the experience will impact him as an educator and Foxcroft as a whole. The trip was possible thanks in part by the generosity of the William R. Kenan Charitable Trust, which endows a program that sponsors faculty research, creativity and curriculum enrichment projects.
