International Week is Here!

Foxcroft’s promise of a lifetime of friendships and global connections is rarely more evident than during International Week, which begins on February 22. Organized by the Global Cultures Club, the week is a special celebration of the great global diversity and multicultural heritage we enjoy year-round at Foxcroft.

All the members of the community -- which includes more than a dozen nationalities and countless ethnic origins (we are a country of immigrants, after all!) -- are invited to share aspects of their family heritage or their native country -- or a country they have lived in, visited or just love!

Highlights of the week include a variety of daily ethnic meals, beginning Monday, Feb. 22 with a japanese feast prepared by Yasko Mohler (scien and math teacher Matt Mohler's wife), Ms. Boulestreau and students.  Also on the menu: Chinese and Korean dinners, an "American as Pizza Pie" party, and a cross-cultural Tex-Mex Night.

The Gala, presented in FoxHound Auditorium Friday, Feb. 26 at 7pm, will showcase individual and group performances, multimedia presentations and some special audience-participation activities. We hope to have many nationalities and ethnic origins represented.

Many thanks -- in advance -- to Global Culture Club leaders Ji Min Y. '16, Chloe X. ’17 and Michelle A. ’17 for their work, and to all the students and faculty who are performing, organizing and/or presenting! We also invite parents, families, and friends to join us as we celebrate the rich tapestry and diverse talents of the Foxcroft community.

In the Dining Hall, Executive Chef Sandy Freeman, her Dining Hall staff and, on some evenings, students and faculty, will lead a gastronomic world tour of ethnic cuisines. This year, Japan has been added to the mix with talk of a sushi-making workshop on Tuesday. The Chinese and the Korean girls once again are preparing menus of their favorite home-country dishes for Monday and Thursday night dinners, respectively. Students and faculty interested in helping prepare the meals or contributing something should contact Ji Min or one of the club advisors, Cathrine Wolf and Esther Sánchez.
