Foxcroft Survives Another Scare

Foxcroft came through again under pressure by beating a plucky Tandem Friends squad in a closely-contested match, 23-25, 26-24, 25-23, 25-21 to finish in second place in the Delaney Athletic Conference Division II.

The victory means that Foxcroft avoids a DAC tournament first-round game on Monday and will host a semifinal game on Tuesday. It is the first time that Foxcroft has finished as high as second place since the school joined the DAC in 2008.

Tandem Friends was leading 24-23 and was within one point of taking a two games to none lead when Foxcroft junior Kat F. hit an incredible laser of a shot from deep in the back row that fell untouched on the opponent's side and knotted the game at 24-24. Foxcroft then scored the next two points to win the set, 26-24. The third game was another nailbiter as Foxcroft squeezed out a 25-23 victory and the fourth also had both teams scoring in the 20s as Foxcroft emerged with a 25-21 victory.

Senior Emma R. led the way for Foxcroft with 27 assists and Kat F. had 16 kills. Junior Lilly S. also turned in a fine game with 21 digs and converted 24 of 25 serves for 15 service points. Senior Tori W. chipped in with 15 digs and senior Cortney C. had seven kills.
