Foxes and Hounds Meet in Annual Battle

Hounds keep the Cup in a a fun, spirited competition

Cheers, songs, drums and tambourines filled the Mary Louise Leipheimer Gym Saturday as the Foxes and the Hounds met in the annual ritual that pairs fierce competition with fun-filled spirit and friendship. The Hounds, who had a height and experience advantage inside, collected a 39-16 victory to keep the Cup for the 10th straight year. The Foxes showed their spirit and character by battling to the end and keeping their colors and support showing throughout.
Led by senior Effie K. who had 14 points, the Hounds jumped to a 15-7 halftime lead and outscored the Foxes 22-1 in the paint. Sophomore Rebecca M. added 9 points, Hound captain Claire A. added 8 and Sylvia O. '11 chipped in with 6.

Senior guard Markesha B. led the Foxes with 11 points. Freshman Caroline H. had 4 and Charlotte W. 12 added 1.

The game culminated a week of action that included Teas, Little and Middle Games, which went to the Foxes and Hounds, respectively, a Big SingSing, the return of a score of alumnae and plenty of ceremony, singing and dance.  For more on the earlier games, click here.
