Foxcroft Reaches VISAA State Tournament in Field Hockey

Varsity Field Hockey finished the season strong and earned the eighth and final spot in the tourney in the final rankings released Sunday.

The team will play the No. 1 seed, Trinity Episcopal (14-3) of Richmond, on Tuesday, November 8 in Richmond.
Foxcroft began the season as the No. 3 ranked team in Division II but was moved up to Division I by VISAA in the second week of the season. When the Division I rankings came out, Foxcroft was 10th. The team moved into a tie for ninth on October 17 but was still in that position a week later with only two weeks remaining.

A 2-1 victory over Fredericksburg Academy, ranked third in Division II, and a 1-1 tie with Episcopal High School, No. 5 in Division I, vaulted Foxcroft into the No. 8 spot on October 31. Foxcroft held onto the spot with an 8-0 victory over John Paul the Great and a 1-0 triumph over Fredericksburg Academy for the Delaney Athletic Conference championship last week.

Led by sisters Haley B. ’19 and Allison B. ’17, Foxcroft (12-2-2) has outscored its opponents, 67-14, this season. Haley leads the team with 21 goals and 10 assists for 52 points, followed by Allison, with nine goals and five assists for 23 points. Sophomore Seabrook B. has 18 points on eight goals and two assists.

Senior goaltender Elle L. has allowed only 1.1 goals per game and has 56 saves.
