Four Students Earn National Latin Exam Honors!

Four of the nine Foxcroft students who took the National Latin Exam were recognized for outstanding performances, Latin teacher Eric Dombrowski announced Friday.
Tish B. '15 and Jasmine M. '16 both earned Silver Maxima Cum Laude awards for scoring 33 out of 40 on the Latin I exam. Lindsay W. '17 achieved Silver Cum Laude by scoring 29 on the Latin IV Prose test and Erica W. '15 earned Cum Laude, with a 30 in Latin II.

The National Latin Exam is offered under the joint sponsorship of the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League. It tests a student's knowledge of grammar, culture and reading comprehension.

More than 153,000 students from all 50 states and 20 foreign countries took the exam this year, including 10,357 in Virginia. Overall, only 32% of the test-takers earned national awards. Foxcroft's percentage easily exceeded that average.

Congratulations to the students and their teacher!
