Five students, teacher elected to Cum Laude Society

Four seniors, one junior and a faculty member have been elected to the Foxcroft School chapter of the Cum Laude Society, chapter president Susan Erba announced Wednesday January 29. The Cum Laude Society is a national high school scholastic honor society modeled on the collegiate Phi Beta Kappa.
Seniors Su-Im, Rooni, Rachel M. and Yu were selected, joining their classmates Catherine and YeJin , who had the distinction of being elected as juniors a year ago.

Gabriella D. was  the lone student to earn election as a junior this year, while Science and Math teacher Matthew Mohler was also named to the Society for his contributions to the intellectual life of the School.

The Foxcroft Chapter, founded in 1958, is one of some 335 Cum Laude Society chapters across the United States. Erba, who chairs the Mathematics Department at Foxcroft, said that only students that evidence a genuine interest in the pursuit of knowledge and have superior academic records as reflected in their course load, grade point average, and other factors, are selected for induction.

Head of School Mary Louise Leipheimer, Glenn Kantz (English teacher) Steve Matthews (Head Librarian/English teacher) and Alex Northrup (Academic Dean/History teacher) will join Erba in conferring the honors on the newest group of academic stars at the official induction, which will take place at Foxcroft’s Commencement in May.
