Eventers Ride Well at DVPC Horse Trials


Freshman Miranda M. and Gaelic Magic won the Novice Rider Division and senior Allegra A., on Fanfare, placed second in the Open Novice class Sunday (April 10) at the Dominion Valley Pony Club Horse Trials held at Foxcroft.

In addition, sophomore Debbie C., who rode her horse Best Grades to fourth-place finish in the Novice Rider, paired with Papi, another private horse, to win the Baby Novice division.

Altogether, five Foxcroft students competed  in six events and won ribbons every time. All bt Debbie rode school horses.
Sophomore Shea V., on Willie, was in first place after dressage with a score of 26.5 but ran into some trouble on the cross-country course and finished fifth among Novice Riders. Best Grades and Debbie C., rallied from sixth after dressage to finished fourth in the class. Miranda and Gaelic Magic (Gal) scored 28.3 to stand in second after dressage, then had a terrific cross-country ride en route to the blue ribbon. 

In the Open Novice class, senior Annnie Y. and Neva Mind (Neville) scored 37.5 for fifth place in dressage and held the position. Fanfare (Harry) and Allegra held second throughout.
