Eight Foxcroft Athletes Earn All-Conference Honors!

Six members of the Delaney Athletic Conference regular season champion lacrosse team received all-league honors while soccer and softball eached had one player honored in a celebratory finish to the Foxcroft spring sports season. In addition, the Varsity Lacrosse triumverate of Patrick Finn, Kathy Gonzalez, and Michelle Woodruff was named DAC Coaches of the Year by their colleagues.

In lacrosse, juniors Olivia Jane, Caroline F. and Carter; senior Charlotte M., and sophomore Lilly M. all were named First Team all-DAC in a vote by the league's coaches. Freshman Emma received honorable mention. Junior Rebecca M. was selected to the First Team in soccer and senior Caroline H. received a similar honor in softball.
Olivia Jane, who played the attack position, had 10 goals and three assists in six league games while Carter, a center, posted 11 goals and three assists. Charlotte and Lilly played the difficult positions of defensive wing and performed offensive as well as defensive duties while Caroline, whose all-out hustle was an inspiration to her teammates, played at attack wing and contributed four goals and added three assists in conference games.

Charlotte and Olivia Jane were chosen as the team's co-MVPs by coaches Patrick Finn, Kathy Gonzalez, and Michelle Woodruff. Emma, playing her first varsity season, led all scorers in DAC competition with 25 goals and nine assists.
 
These talented young ladies will get a chance to show their skills at the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II tournament against top-seeded Cape Henry Collegiate on Friday in Norfolk, Va.
 
Rebecca, who was named the soccer team’s Most Valuable Player by coaches Bethany Lowe and Kirsten Miner, was the backbone of the offense all season. A center mid, she posted five goals and two assists and specialized in curving corner kicks that often found their way into the net.

Caroline H. was the team leader in softball and received all-league first team honors for the second year in a row. Selected as the team’s MVP by coaches Fred McMane and Steve McCarty for the second consecutive year, Caroline was asked to move from shortstop to the pitching circle and did so without complaint. Her fielding was exemplary and she accounted for more than 50 percent of the team’s recorded outs.
