The Editorial Board, comprised of juniors Hannah, Cortney, Phoebe, Soo Min, Molly, Lee, Lilly, Chase, and Tori and sophomore Lexie, introduced the first
electronic edition to the Foxcroft community last Friday in Morning Meeting. They previewed the issue, explained the process of selecting pieces to include in it, and encouraged students to submit their work.
"A digital
Chimera provides more access to students, alumnae, and parents," the student editors said, "and it reflects our commitment to conserving natural resources." Posting
Chimara on Wordpress.com also allows for a more interactive experience as readers can comment on what they see.
The girls also thanked advisor Anne Burridge of the English Department and other teachers who helped gather submissions -- Karin Thorndike and Gary Cox (Fine Arts), Arnaud Boulestreau and Esther Sanchez (Foreign Language), and Alex Northrup (English) -- as well as technical advisor Lew Burridge, who not only set
Chimera up on Wordpress.com but also created a unique Foxcroft version of the mythical title character.
Chimera is a longstanding Foxcroft tradition that has showcased the original work of many talented students over the years. The title comes from Greek mythology and is an imaginary creature composed of incongruous parts, traditionally a lion's head, goat's body, and serpent's tail. Foxcroft's new interpretation is -- naturally -- part fox and part hound. Enjoy!
