A Veritable Sports Festival

Five of Foxcroft's seven fall teams in action at home Tuesday -- including third-ranked Varsity Field Hockey

A varsity field hockey showdown between Foxcroft, ranked third in the VISAA Division II, and fourth-ranked Fredericksburg Academy highlights an action-packed Tuesday tomorrow (Sept. 16) when five of Foxcroft's seven fall teams are in action at home.

The action begins at 4pm when Varsity Field Hockey and Varsity Tennis, also hosting FA, as well as the Delaney Athletic Conference Boys Cross-Country Race, begin. The girls' race follows at 4:45 while JV Volleyball tips off against St. Michael's School in Engelhard Gymnasium at 4:30 pm, with the Varsity, also against St. Michael's, following. Come cheer on our girls if you can!
Varsity Field Hockey, which fell to Fredericksburg in three of four meetings last year, takes a 2-0 record against 2-2 Fredericksburg at 4pm on the Lower Field. A year ago, Foxcroft beat FA in their first meeting of the year but then fell in a second regular-season meeting, the Delaney Athletic Conference Championship, and again a week later in the VISAA Division II Championship. The first VISAA Field Hockey poll, released today (Monday), had Foxcroft third, behind only Covenant and Walsingham. FA was fourth.

Varsity Tennis defeated FA three times in as many meetings last year but lost several standout players to graduation and dropped its season-opener last Thursday to Maderia School. The volleyball teams are both looking for their first wins of the season while cross country is looking for a strong peformance, building on a terrific opening meet at Quantico last week.
