Fourteen girls teams will compete in varsity, junior varsity, and middle school divisions Saturday, January 12 when Foxcroft School holds its fourth annual Think Pink Basketball Tournament to benefit the Cherry Blossom Breats Cancer Foundation. Everyone is invited and admission is free.
begins at 9:00 a.m. in the School’s Athletic/Student Center as defending champion Wakefield School (The Plains), St. James School (Hagerstown, MD), and Madeira School (McLean) join Foxcroft in the Varsity competition. JV teams from Madeira, St. James, Fredericksburg Academy, and Foxcroft will compete in their own division while a special middle school round-robin of shortened games will feature six schools: The Hill School (Middleburg, VA), St. James, Fredericksburg Academy, Randolph Macon Academy, Quantico, and Wakefield.
Foxcroft’s Athletic Association will operate the food concessions, offering lunch, snacks, and beverages. Proceeds from tournament entry fees, the sale of special “Think Pink” shirts and pink shoelaces, a portion of the concession proceeds, free-will donations, and sponsorships by local families and businesses will benefit the Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Foundation
, which supports breast cancer detection, treatment and education in Fauquier and Loudoun counties as well as regional research to find a cure for the disease.
Last year, Foxcroft raised an impressive $10,000 for the CBBCF, more than $5,000 of it through the Think Pink Tournament. Foxcroft was the largest single contributor to the Foundation and was honored as a Cherry Blossom Champion at a dinner in the spring.
