Ride On! IEA Regional Finals at Foxcroft this Sunday!

More than 80 riders from 13 schools and riding clubs will compete Sunday when Foxcroft hosts the Interscholastic Equestrian Association Zone 3, Region 2 Finals Horse Show. Hunt seat competition among individuals and teams that have qualified in 26 different classes is scheduled to begin at 10:30am at MConnell Stables.

Among the teams scheduled to compete are Garrison Forest School, Madeira School, Foxcroft -- which has qualified its team plus eight individuals -- and Briar Woods, the first public high school equestrian team in northern Virginia.  According to Foxcroft Riding Director Kate Worsham, all told, 87 riders will take 115 rides in the largest interscholastic meet to be held at Foxcroft in recent memory, perhaps ever.

The public is invited to come watch the competition. Admission is free and a refreshment atand, run by Foxcroft's Athletic Association, will have a variety of breakfast, lunch and snack foods and drinks for sale.

Two more riders qualify for Regionals; Team places 2nd at GFS Show

Foxcroft's Riding Team was named Reserve Champion among 13 teams and two more individuals, Olivia G. '12 and Annabelle B. '13, qualified for Regionals Finals Sunday at an Interscholastic Equestrian Association horse show held at Garrison Forest School.

Olivia, who placed second on the flat,  won the Intermediate Varsity Over Fences class to qualify for that event at Regionals. Annabelle took third in both the flat and over fences Junior Varsity Novice classes and will ride over fences in Regionals. fences in Varsity Intermediate and Junior Varsity Novice!

All told, Foxcroft riders won 13 ribbons, including two firsts, three seconds and five thirds. Co-Captain Mckenzie had a first and a second in the Varsity Open competition and sophomore Meredith K. took two thirds in the Junior Varsity Novice but missed qualifying for Regionals by one point!

The Foxcroft IEA Team is also qualified for Regional Finals. Director of Riding Kate Worsham will designate one rider per class to represent the team at this competition on Sunday Feb. 5 here at Foxcroft.
