The Foxcroft Stable, a gift from Jean DuPont McConnell Shehan, is dedicated to “the schoolgirl riding for pleasure or sport.” Foxcroft’s riding facility includes a 60-stall stable with two tack rooms, four wash stalls (two of which have hot and cold water), grooming and farrier stations, a student lounge for meetings and socializing, and staff offices.
The stable houses 25-30 Foxcroft School-owned horses as well as private horses owned by students. The school horses range in level from beginner through advanced and are of the quality and soundness appropriate for use in lessons, local and rated competitions, and fox hunting. Girls may ride the horses provided by the School or they may choose to board their own horse at the Foxcroft stable. Exceptional care, attention to detail, and expertise are all hallmarks of the stable’s horse training and management team.
Adjoining the stable is a 100’ by 200’ indoor arena with an enclosed viewing gallery, overhead watering system, and state-of-the-art footing. The surrounding grounds include numerous paddocks to accommodate both group and private turn out, an outdoor grass arena, a large outdoor sand arena, both novice- and training-level cross-country courses, and miles of well-maintained trails.
The Foxcroft riding facilities provide the riders and horses with a beautiful, relaxing, and professional atmosphere in which to explore the joys or all things equine!
