"When you first come here, they give you wings. Well, they don't give you wings, you've always had them. They just say here, look, this is where your wings have been all along and it's up to you whether or not you are going to learn to fly."-Stephanie Young '00

Every girl has the ability to make a difference in her community and the world. Foxcroft helps girls identify their gifts and bring them out in positive and productive ways. Both students and faculty constantly encourage girls to apply or run for leadership roles, to take risks, to stretch themselves beyond where they think they can go.

All Foxcroft girls graduate with leadership experience and that is no coincidence, nor is it solely because Foxcroft is a girls' school. Whether it is through the formal Leadership Program or from the recognition of the role informal leaders play in campus life, Foxcroft encourages girls to be leaders, and provides them with the confidence, skills, and desire to be effective leaders in their School and beyond. Students complete written applications and submit peer and faculty recommendations. Either a speech to the voters or a personal interview with student leaders and faculty occurs before a student may be selected for a leadership position. At a spring Leadership Retreat and pre-Opening Days Leadership workshops, student leaders concentrate on group and individual goals and responsibilities. Ultimately, student leaders become an extension of the adult community, preparing them for future leadership.
