Tiffany '03 entered Foxcroft as a scared and uncomfortable freshman. It was the first time she had lived away from home, where she had attended school with the same friends from kindergarten through eighth grade. "And, for that matter, [my old friends] were the same type of people. Everyone was like me, African American, from the same area, the same social status, the same everything,'' said Perry.
An active member of the Foxcroft, Tiffany is now a self-confident student who has been an active member of the school. She was Hound captain and has been recognized by the Independent School League for her achievements in varsity tennis. Tiffany said Foxcroft gave her the gift of self-confidence. "Girls can feel free to do whatever they want at Foxcroft. You aren't labeled a nerd, a jock, or anything else. Mainly because you don't care about what others think--especially guys--you gain more self-confidence. In the future, the presence of guys won't change that: they'll just have to cope,'' she said.
Tiffany is attending the University of Richmond on a four-year academic scholarship. As a parting gift, Tiffany left a piece of advice to all the underclassmen: "Cherish your time here. Though sometimes your time here seems eternal, in actuality your days are numbered. Once you leave, you won't have FoxHound, your sisterhood and teachers who are like family outside of the class. More than likely you won't be in a community that cares about your well-being as much as Foxcroft does. I would like to let the underclassmen know my realization before their graduation so they can take advantage of their opportunities and time here.''
