Requirements for Graduation
The minimum requirement for graduation is the successful completion of 18 academic units (credits) plus four years of physical education. A unit is the equivalent of a single full-year course. The Foxcroft School year is divided into two semesters; courses of one semester's length receive one-half unit.
The normal program consists of five academic units per year. In exceptional cases and with permission of the Academic Dean, a student may carry a four-course or six-course load.
Distribution and Course Requirements
English: 4 units: one unit to be taken each year.
Foreign Language: 3 units: three consecutive units of any one foreign language or four units of foreign language, two being consecutive in one and two in another.
History: 3 units: World Cultures* for Freshmen; European History* for Sophomores; One unit of U.S. History.
Mathematics: 3 units: The Math core curriculum includes Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. Three units of credit are granted for demonstrating competency in these areas, but the number of actual semesters of study may vary.
Science: 3 units: Biology* for Freshmen; Physics* for Sophomores; One additional unit.
Fine Arts: 1.5 units: Introduction to the Arts* for Freshmen; one additional unit to be earned in Dance, Drama, Music, Studio Art, or Art History.
Physical Education: 3 trimesters/year
Health: Sophomore Health Class*
* These requirements are waived for students who do not attend Foxcroft during their Freshman and/or Sophomore year(s).
