College counseling at Foxcroft begins with students in the tenth grade, and the pace increases over the course of the junior and senior years. Individually and in groups, juniors and seniors attend intensive meetings, workshops, and college fairs to learn the different components of the college search and the application process. We discuss goal setting, realistic expectations, and focusing on what constitutes a good match between student and college. Students make effective use of the many resources available to them; the Internet, guide books, college videos, and updated catalogs are all available in the College Counseling resource room. More than fifty representatives from colleges all across the country visit Foxcroft each fall to assist each student in her decision-making process.

We keep colleges informed about Foxcroft's excellent programs and we advocate for each individual as she applies to college. Attending Foxcroft School, however, does not guarantee admission to any particular college or university. While our strong academic and extracurricular programs provide opportunities for students to meet competitive entrance requirements, the extent to which a student takes advantage of these opportunities and develops her strengths and talents will be major factors in her success as a candidate. As competition for college admission is rigorous, each student is encouraged to study the most challenging and varied program for her, and to focus her college search on a balanced range of schools which represent a solid fit for her.
