Foxcroft marks MLK Jr. Day
While the rest of the world commemorates Martin Luther King, Jr. by having a long weekend, Foxcroft hosts an Admission Day Festival and a regular day of classes. . . and celebrates Dr. King's life with special events. In Morning Meeting, students shared quotes from Dr. King to inspire and move the community. In the evening, Howard Ministries Gospel Choir, which draws singers from all over Northern Virginia, performed for an hour in FoxHound Auditorium.

The group and its loquacious leader, Minister Isaac Howard, not only got the girls on their feet, clapping, swaying, and singing along but, for the final number, invited singers to the stage and taught them a simple refrain in three-part harmony! Reverend Jeffery Johnson, Jr. moved the audience with a dramatic recitation of King's "I Have a Dream" speech, bringing the evening of celebration and commemoration full-circle.

Many thanks for booking the group to Jane Lockhart and Mike Brown, who also put together a special meal to mark the day.
